About us

Spanish Town Covenant Community Church (STCCC), initially Covenant Community Church Spanish Town, was set apart in 1991 as one of the 7 local fellowships birthed out of the original Covenant Community Church which was inaugurated in April 1983 in Kingston.

The first meeting of STCCC was held on May 13, 1991 at the home of the designated pastor, Donald Stewart, at Lot 78 Eltham View, Spanish Town. Present at this gathering were members of the original Covenant Community Church who lived in the Spanish Town area.

A total of 18 persons were present including 8 adults and 10 children. Individuals present were by name: Myrtle Paharsingh and 2 of her grandchildren, Carla and Kersha Paharsingh, Desreen Clarke and her son Kevaughn Grant, Doreen and Timon Williamson and their children, Don, Johann and Debra-Gail Williamson, Dwight and Marva Thomas and their children Deborah and Daniel Thomas. Also present was Michael Ferguson, Donald and Andrea Stewart and their children Dian-Kay and Nichole Stewart.

Shortly after the first meeting, the Lord provided the church with a spacious accommodation at 49 Old Harbour Road on the compound of Paharsingh’s Engineering Works, where the  fledgling fellowship grew and expanded. Within a few years our numbers grew and expanded to 100 and approached 150 on occasions.

Not long after being at ‘49’, Pastor Donald Stewart was reassigned to fill a leadership void at Portmore CCC, Michael Ferguson then assumed the pastoral role. With him in leadership were Dwight Thomas and Timon Williamson as elders. After several years at ‘49’ it became necessary for the church to relocate. We found accommodation at the YWCA campus in Spanish Town which we used for a brief period and again sought for a more suitable location in the city. We found more spacious accommodation at 6 Nugent Street, in the heart of the city. We remained in this location for 12 years.

While at Nugent Street, the Lord provided a lot of land for us to purchase in the heart of the city, where the plan is to erect a multipurpose facility to facilitate future church and community activities. The fellowship experienced some significant losses whilst at Nugent Street, including that of 2 foundation members, Doreen Williamson in 2010 and Pastor Michael Ferguson in 2012. We also lost an elderly visitor and a young child.

To fill the pastoral void, long-serving elder, Timon Williamson, was asked to bear the mantle of under-shepherd, which he accepted. He is supported and guided by a team  of elders - D. Thomas, L. Pusey and S. Murray and also by minister K. Williams and other ministry leaders.

In 2017 the Lord provided a location for us to meet at 6-8  Essex Drive, Greendale.
