STATEMENT OF FAITH

statement of faith

1. THE SCRIPTURES
We believe the Holy Scriptures (both Old and New Testament) are the inspired Word of God. They are the complete revelation of His will for the salvation of all men. the standard for our faith and practice and the final authority against which all subsequent revelation is to be evaluated.
2 Timothy 2:16; 2 Timothy 3:16.

2. GOD
We believe in one God, Creator, Redeemer and Sovereign Ruler of all creation, eternally existing in three persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
Genesis 1: 3; Matthew 3; Colossians 1: 15.

3. JESUS CHRIST
We believe that Jesus Christ is true God and true man, having been conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary, and that he arose bodily from the dead and ascended into heaven where He now is our High Priest and Advocate.
Hebrews 9,10; 1 Corinthians 15: 3 - 8; 1 John 1: 1,14; John 14: 5 - 26.

4. THE HOLY SPIRIT
We believe that the ministry of the Holy Spirit is to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ, to convict men of sin and to regenerate the sinner. He indwells, guides and instructs the believer in his daily life.

We believe the Holy Spirit imparts gifts and abilities greater than our own to accomplish God's will both within and through the Church. John 14: 24 - 26.

5. MAN
We believe that man was created in the image of God. Through disobedience man sinned against God. Sin brought on physical death which is separation from God. All human beings are sinful by nature and without hope outside of God.
Romans 6: 23; Genesis 3; Romans 5.

6. SALVATION
We believe that salvation comes by the grace of God through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. The individual recognizing his own disobedience must turn from sin and seek forgiveness and cleansing from God. The penitent person is justified and becomes an heir of eternal life on the grounds of the sacrificial and substitutionary death of Jesus Christ.
1 John 1: 9; Acts 4: 12.

7. CHRISTIAN LIFE
We believe God established a covenant relationship in the blood of Jesus Christ to the new convert. The benefits of this covenant come to those who walk in obedience to Jesus Christ and to the Word of God. He must lead a life of holiness and witness and service through the power of the Holy Spirit.

We believe that all those who live in covenant with the Lord Jesus Christ should live in covenant loyalty with one another, forgiving, serving and correcting one another in brotherly love.
Colossians 3: 1-17.

8. THE CHURCH
We believe there is one Church Universal comprising all those who are regenerated by faith in Jesus Christ and who live under his Lordship. They form the Body of Jesus Christ in the earth.

The unity of the Church Universal of which Christ is the head, transcends cultural, national, racial and ethnic boundaries.

We believe that the Church Local is the body of Christians joins together, in covenant commitments under the authority and care of Elders and Pastors to reflect the glory of God locally and to carry out his mission. The Church Local must seek to function in harmony with the Church Universal.
Matthew 16:18; Ephesians 4; Ephesians 5: 23.

9. PRIESTHOOD OF BELIEVERS
We believe in the priesthood of believer. Through the High Priestly ministry of Jesus Christ, each Christian has free access to the presence of the Father. Each Christian can enter with confidence and with the faith to worship the Lord, make requests of Him and offer his life sacrificially unto the Lord.
1 Peter 2: 4 - 5.

10. EVANGELISM
We believe in the evangelism of the world. We accept the commission of Jesus Christ to make disciples of all nations, to baptize them and to teach them to observe his commandments. Hence, the Gospel of the Kingdom must affect first the home, then the neighbourhood, the nation and ultimately the world. We accept this as a personal commission as well as a Church commission.
Matthew 28: 18 - 20; Acts 1: 8.

11. CHRIST’S RETURN
We believe Jesus Christ will personally and visibly return to the earth in power and glory. His purpose is to manifest his government in the earth and to consummate His salvation and to bring final judgement to the earth.

We believe in the bodily resurrection of the dead, in the rewards of the believer, in ruling with Him and enjoying his eternal presence and blessings, and in the unbeliever to judgement and eternal conscious punishment.
John 14:3; 1Thessalonians 4: 16.
